Devine appointments from God

by | Jan 11, 2023

Sometimes I wonder why I bother.

I write down my thoughts and share them with the world like an open journal.

I get put in FB jail.

FB is constantly lowering my content in the feed.

And many posts get very little engagement because they don’t follow the “recipe” for great content.

But then I get a message from someone I don’t know. He really resonates with the things I say.

He asks if we can do a zoom call as he has some questions regarding his journey with God.

This is someone I would have never crossed paths with in a city that I’ve never been to. I can’t even remember how we got connected on FB.

I believe we both walked away encouraged in knowing God better through our conversation, and hopefully more to come.

I also have no doubt, this was an appointment made by God.

???? I didn’t push for this.
???? I didn’t set out to have people seek me for answers.
???? I’m just a guy who speaks what’s on his mind, and sometimes that get’s me in trouble.

Someone I don’t even know wants to ask me personal questions about God?

I was a little nervous wondering how this was going to go. I’m more used to really thinking out my thoughts and then publishing them. I’m then able to think about how I respond to comments at my convenience.

As an analytical person who tends to see things from different angles, this is where I’m comfortable. But an interactive conversation with a stranger who’s probably going to ask me questions I might not have answers to right away? I’d much rather have time to analyze my answers carefully thank you very much!

But who am I to question God and His appointments for me?

This is why many times the analytics, the reach, and the engagement of content are all just for vanity. It’s to stroke your ego. They make you feel good with the illusion that you have influence over people. The reality is if you died tomorrow, most wouldn’t notice.

We focus so much on the numbers that hold no real value and miss the numbers that actually count.

The real value comes when God lines everything up without you knowing and then comes unexpectedly and says “Mike, do this thing” and you listen and do.

That one conversation was worth every word I’ve ever written about the current times we’re in and how God is in it all.

Not because our conversation was so good or because I was able to achieve anything in it. But the humble realization is that yes, a huge God, creator of everything that is not limited to time, space, or matter can use someone as little and insignificant as me in this world of “influence is everything” to help someone else’s journey with Him.

That’s pretty powerful, and not something any Christian should underestimate or take for granted.

???? It’s not about numbers.
???? It’s not about how you feel.
???? It’s not about how you measure up according to the world.

It’s about your ability to hear God’s voice, listen, and do.

Get uncomfortable.
Speak truth.
Enter the spiritual battlefield.
