Does prosperity breed ignorance?
Ignorance is bliss they say.
But is it really?
It’s only blissful until you’re faced with the hard truth.
And nothing breeds more ignorance than prosperity.
It’s not that prosperity is bad, it’s just that ignorance goes with is hand in hand.
When things are so positive, we tend to ignore negativity, because it’s such a downer. It’s the opposite of the direction we want to go.
The result is we become ignorant of our own ignorance because being ignorant would be a negative thing.
And so we blindly go along with anything that appears positive, because being positive produced prosperity.
In reality, that positivity is the serpent in the Garden of Eden.
Think about it. What other image does the Garden of Eden paint other than prosperity? Everything Adam and Eve could have ever wanted or needed was right there at their fingertips. Not a thing wrong with it.
But they were ignorant. The blissfulness of the garden left them naive. All they had to do was trust in God and all would have been well.
But then, as the bible describes, the most cunning creature of all, the serpent, uses Adam and Eve’s ignorance to trick them.
While they enjoyed great prosperity, far more than we can imagine, it all fell apart with the lure of having more. That is when sin entered the world and we were cursed.
The Bible also tells us that there is nothing new under the sun. What has been will be again. And so we go through these cycles in the history of great prosperity, and just when we’re at the peak when we think we can outsmart God, it all comes crashing down.
Look. You can be ignorant of the bible all you want. But being ignorant of something doesn’t make it any less true, it just means you don’t hold the truth.
We’re on the verge of experiencing what the bible refers to as labour pain, leading up to the return of Jesus Christ.
The thing with labour pain is we don’t know the actual time of the birthing event. Some woman feel their first signs of labour and give birth within the hour. For others, it can be days.
The Bible is very clear, we will not know the day nor the hour of Jesus Christ’s return, but we can see the signs as they become more intense, and know that day is coming.
I’m not going to sit here and tell you that Jesus is returning tomorrow. But I can tell you that He’s coming back soon, and we can see the labour pain is really going to hurt those who are not prepared for it spiritually. Now is not the time to remain ignorant.
Vulnerable moment. I've been feeling a little lost as of late. A little overwhelmed. Feeling like I don't have control of certain circumstances I want to. I feel like my life has been going down one path and there is a call coming from behind me saying "Stop! You've...
What could Jesus have done with our technology
Some days I think man, what could Jesus have done with our technology and understanding of people today? Think of the impact He could have had. His voice could have been heard across the world all at once. Why wait thousands of years for it to get to only 90% of the...
