I need help from a scholar or a well-studied theologian.
I’m trying to find scripture in the Bible that says God loves America or Canada above all other countries.
Any verses that Jesus had a political preference?
Surely he stated He liked Fox News over CNN, right?
OK, I’ll settle for a single verse that tells me I have the right to freedom in the country in which I reside.
Nothing?
Hmm, seems like this might be an issue for many Christians as so many hold stronger to their nationality than they do the word of God.
And that is the very reason why they’re going to lose the political, social, and cultural war.
Christians are too focused on the physical conflicts around us instead of the spiritual wars above us. God wants the top spot. He wants His will to be done. Not your will.
What does God desire?
Repentance. Relationship. Worship. Lordship.
There is NOTHING we can do to save America, Canada, or any other country. It has always been and always will be in His hands.
And that’s why we approach everything we do in God’s name with “God willing“.
God’s will might be to destroy the nation of America…
and His will might be to raise it higher than ever in order to achieve His mission, not yours.
His mission is simple: To save as many people as possible, through His people by sharing His word and what He did so that none shall perish, but have everlasting life through Him.
Nowhere in the Bible do we see that the nations of America, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and many other countries have any significant role in that mission. In fact, there are only a few main nations that play key roles in the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Now, don’t get me wrong. If we saw our nations turn back to God, turn from their wicked ways, and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, I believe that from reading scripture, God will show favour to us. The transformation we would see in our nations would be nothing short of a miracle. But that is only because the people chose God over self.
I go back to II Chronicles 20 as an example.
Judah was headed for destruction, surrounded by a great multitude of armies coming to take their land. Jehoshaphat did NOT shout “God bless Judah” or “Save our nation above all!”
No, he turned to God, prayed to God, called His people to pray to God and sought God’s will.
And what did God say? This is not your battle. You won’t need to fight. Just go to the front line and sing praise to My name. Give it all to God, and He will provide.
Do you want to save your country or the world from evil? It starts and ends with turning from self and turning to God. God triumphs over evil, but He’s also willing to discipline us if we’re disobedient.,
