How to spot false teachers

by | Nov 14, 2022

A while back I commented on a local pastor’s posts asking for a biblical reference to back up his claim that “As believers, we’re to bring down heaven to earth”.

Right away this didn’t sit well with me, so I asked where in the bible it was so I could read it for myself.

The answer I got should make any believer run away from this man.

“Trust me, If I am wrong, those around me would tell me.”

I’m sorry, that’s an answer a cult leader would give whose followers adore him, not someone who claims to preach and teach the bible.

This is why it’s important for Christians to study their bible and have a good theological foundation, so they’re not fooled by imposters. The correct answer should always be to go back to the bible, not believe my friend.

What made me think of it was this great interview regarding false teachers, false profits, and fake apostles.

One thing I have noticed regarding these types of teachers is they heavily rely on music. Music is used to put people in a trance, to make them feel false emotions, and make them take in falsehoods without even realizing it.

Understanding this has greatly changed how I view worship music. As someone who operated the sound board for church service, I understand the subconscious power the music has on the mind.

I’m not suggesting a specific type of worship music is bad, I’m just suggesting we should compare it to sound doctrine to ensure it’s theologically correct, just like we would someone who is teaching us the bible.

The Bible is not complicated, but the devil who has studied it much more than you or I will always use our lack of knowledge of it to deceive us.
