Jordan Peterson Discussion on Science vs Religion

Science vs Religion
Short clip of a great conversation between a Christian, a scientist, and Jordan Peterson.
I’m not going to say I agree with every single word said here, but the conversation is very deep and interesting.
Jonathan’s point near the end hits the nail on the head.
If you try to prove the resurrection of Christ 100% on scientific evidence, you’ll never get there. Simply because it defies all of our understandings of science. And once the disciples were over the initial shock of it, all doubt was removed. They knew the truth and stood for it despite their suffering and death.
Jonathan describes the exact process I had to go through to understand the truth of Jesus Christ, His death, burial, and resurrection.
- You need a clear understanding of what pure and perfect good looks like. And then understand that no matter how hard you try, you’ll never be able to meet that standard.
-
You also need a clear understanding of what pure evil looks like. Really understand how dark that is and how that’s manifested in the physical world. Then you must come to the understanding that you yourself are not far from there. With the right conditions and timing, you could be just as evil as anyone can imagine. You have to see it from within.
-
Then understand that the purest good you can imagine is not only hated by but is also tortured and crucified by evil. And to top it off, those who believe themselves to be good people taunted and spit on Him while it happened. By worldly standards, good people celebrated His death.
-
Finally, regardless of how evil the world can be and how we can be under the right conditions, it was the pure goodness of God that allowed for the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And we can have that good in us only through Christ.
From my understanding, it is only through this process that one can really understand what God has done for us.
I spent 18 years learning about the bible. Understanding it’s good teaching and how it can “make you a good person”. I was at that 99.9% and struggled with the concept of miracles such as the resurrection.
It wasn’t until I understood the psychological conditioning and torture used in all of the world that allows evil to fester that I fully understood the simplicity of how sin works.
And it wasn’t until God sat me down and really made me see what pure evil looks like in the world today that I understood where sin leads us and why we needed a saviour.
My understanding was never going to be enough. My perception of what was good and evil needed to be killed off so that I could be renewed and be born again in Christ. I had to go from a Mike worldview to a Biblical worldview where there was only one answer.
The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight
