Obedience Rooted in Love

by | Sep 1, 2025

Joh 14:15  “If you love Me, keep My commandments.
Joh 14:16  And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
Joh 14:17  the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

Many people are stuck in the law, believing it will bring them salvation and make them a good person.

No law can make you a good person, no law can be obeyed enough to save you.

Jesus tells us here very clearly that obeying the law, as best as one possibly can, begins in love.

If you obey His commandments without loving Him, you will not be saved, you cannot be saved, it is impossible to be of any good without first loving Him.

This is where we see people having radical transformations. This is where we see people saved from their addictions. This is where we see people producing the fruit of the Spirit.

Not because they read the law, learned how to be good according to a distant God, but because they understood for the first time who this God is, Jesus Christ. And as a result are filled with the Holy Spirit who helps guide them.

The spirit of truth that those who do not love Jesus cannot have.

This is why I have come to believe, and this is my perspective, that Jesus Christ will never save anyone who thinks the law is good. Because they studied it so well and know it inside and out, to ensure they get it right. That all of a sudden, their intellect has convinced them this must be true.

And Jesus will tell them to get away, for He never knew them.

The devil, Satan himself, knows the bible far better than anyone on earth can…in my opinion. And yet, he cannot get to heaven because he does not love God, and therefore does not obey Him.
