Progressive Church vs Conservative Church
I used to think that the church needed to be more progressive.
It needed to be more relevant to reach more people.
It needed to transform itself closer to the culture, or it will die.
I’ve since realized the truth is much different.
The church needs to go back to its roots.
Being relevant is not important when you have the truth of God.
And the churches transforming to culture are the ones that are dying because they have nothing different to offer than what the world already gives.
We’ve been playing this game that the church with the most numbers is the one having the biggest impact. It’s quantity over quality.
It’s the church that has the most resources and bigger budgets that are idolized and worshipped by counterfeit Christians.
Jesus called us to disciple the nations, not provide entertainment for Sunday social clubs.
But that’s exactly what I was attracted to for so many years.
If the preacher or pastor wasn’t entertaining and sociable, the teaching wasn’t good in my eyes. He wasn’t a great example.
The difference is now I don’t care who the teacher is. They’re flawed just like I am. But I get to hear the word of God through them, unfiltered, unpolished.
When you remove the sound systems, the worship band, the media screens, the polished service, and the motivational speaker, you’re left with only one thing to focus on.
The raw word of God. The raw worship of people who sing to God, not because they’re amazing singers, but because they desire to sing loud to God.
I’m not suggesting that if you go to a big church, and you have all these things you’re a counterfeit Christian. I do believe there are great and strong Christians God has placed in every church. You might very well be in the Church you are meant to be in.
The important message is this. Don’t think that for a second because you’re in a church you’re in the safe zone with other believers.
No, you might very well be behind enemy lines surrounded by Christians that are heavily influenced by the Devil.
I believe that if the churches that are more progressive started going back to their roots, removing distractions and preaching the full word of God, we’d see pretty quick who the counterfeits are as they flee to other churches that remained “progressive” in order to be relevant with culture.
Vulnerable moment. I've been feeling a little lost as of late. A little overwhelmed. Feeling like I don't have control of certain circumstances I want to. I feel like my life has been going down one path and there is a call coming from behind me saying "Stop! You've...
A stern warning to the rich oppressors
A stern warning to the wealthy that are corrupt and take advantage of those poorer than them. Your time will come. Not at the hands of those you oppress, but God himself will not resist his judgement upon you. James was rather serious, firm, and to the point...
Beyond belief
There is no such thing as color when you ask a dog. The land is where you go to die, when you ask a fish. And yet we know both are not true because we have a greater understanding of things than dogs and fish. Are we so ignorant to not believe that things exist beyond...
