Seek God’s knowledge above all other knowledge

I’m big on seeking knowledge. Knowledge makes us more powerful.
But is there such a thing as seeking too much knowledge?
It was the seeking of knowledge of medical experiments on unwilling Jews in WWII that was evil and sinful. Perhaps they gained knowledge, but at what expense?
Eve was tempted by knowledge. She did not know the knowledge of Good and Evil, but she sought the knowledge by eating the fruit.
She could have remained ignorant of Good and Evil, but instead chose it would be better to know rather than trust God.
The Serpent’s lie was two-fold from what I read in scripture. Neither lie was about the knowledge, but rather the impact the knowledge would bring.
- She would not die as God said.
- Having this knowledge would be good for her, making her like God.
The deception was not that this knowledge was false. The lie was based on what would happen after she received the knowledge.
Isn’t that always the case with sin? The lie isn’t that the sin won’t feel good or it won’t deliver what was promised, it’s the lie that you’ll get away with it. That there is no negative impact of that sin.
“Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
Genesis 2:16-17
“Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Genesis 3:4-5
“So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.
Genesis 3:6-7
“Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”
Genesis 3:22
All this to say, seeking knowledge is good, let’s not be ignorant.
But let’s first trust in God to reveal what knowledge is good for us.
Some knowledge is good for us NOT to know. Much evil happens when humans know too much or seek too much knowledge.
Let’s seek God’s knowledge before other knowledge, He knew what was going to happen when Adam and Eve ate that apple and gained that knowledge and warned them. But they put gaining knowledge higher than trusting God.
Do we see this same thing happening today?
But now that I re-read it, it appears God only told Adam, as He warned Adam before Eve was created. So once again, we can see, the whole problem lies in the lack of man’s communication with his wife. ????????????
