The pagan gods are making a comeback

by | Dec 5, 2022

The pagan gods are making a comeback because people like the idea that gods do what humans request.

Imagine, thinking a supreme being is there to serve you like a genie in a bottle.

This is because people don’t like being told they have an evil nature within them called sin. How could a loving God say such a bad thing about us?

But really, how can we look at the world today and not see it?

Simple. We compare ourselves to someone more sinful and say “See, I’m not evil, that’s evil”.

That’s one of the reasons why God came to us as man, Jesus Christ. So that we would stop comparing our righteousness to others’ downfalls and think we’re so good. We’re able to see the example of what sinless and being holy looks like, and then realize that we’re all in the same playing field.

We’re all sinners who fall short of the glory of God. No one can do good works and boast they are closer to God or better than the other.

Our hearts are deceitful, can be wicked in nature, and we’re capable of doing evil things.

But again, people don’t like a God that sets a benchmark and says Here’s where you fall short”.

They want gods that ask “What does your heart desire, we have a god to serve you in that”.

Welcome to Church, where we stab you in the front, instead of the back.

Last Sunday I visited a church in Spokane while I'm here for work. While I saw online this would be a more modern church, I was not ready for what I was about to experience. Walking up to the church, parked in front as if it were showcased was a very nice motorbike. I...
