To live is to die

by | Oct 1, 2025

The world is lost because it’s seeking something to live for and can’t find it.

And the Christians, myself included, the ones who are supposed to be the hope for the world because of the Holy Spirit that resides within them, are responsible and should be held accountable for their sins.

Not accountable in that they should be punished, but responsible in their commitment to the Lord God they say they serve. And this is only done through repentance. Seeking out their sin, confessing it to God, and turning away from that sin.

And yet…we don’t.

Why?

Because we’re lost in the world looking for something to live for, when Jesus gave us something to die for.

As long as you’re clinging to the idea that whatever you’re seeking is worth living for, you’re deceived by the world and its temptations.

Death is inevitable; 100% of people will face it. and the vast majority fear it because of their regret that they have not “lived enough”.

The secret to life is not what to live for, but what you are willing to die for.

Are you willing to die for your job or career?

Are you willing to die for that dream vacation?

Are you willing to die for wealth?

Most will say no, and yet, they do

Gal 2:20  I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Php 1:21  For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

To live is to die, and this will be rejected because it means living for something far bigger than your selfishness of what you want, but living for a loving God who wants your life to be for His Glory.

Again…I have no innocence in this. I am not preaching from higher ground. I have not yet arrived. And I have been looking for something to live for, for far too much of my life.

What am I willing to die for, so that I may live?

I can only say the name of Jesus Christ, who died for me so that I may live in eternity with Him. Because everything else is just temporary. A generation or two after my departure to the heavenly realm, no one will know the name Micheal Cooper, and I’d rather there be no other way.

This morning, I am reading in Galatians 1 as Paul is talking about a false gospel being preached. A gospel that pleases man and not God. He talks about his former ways of persecuting the church because of his Judaism beliefs at the time. He was zealous in the...

Hineni: Seeking The Favor Of God
