Truth vs Perspective
Disagreements, fights, separation, divorces, and wars all happen because of a difference of perspectives.
But when the goal is focused on discovering the truth, perspective loses its grip on the people fighting just to be right.
Perspective has an emotional attachment to it.
The truth may require us to put aside our emotional perspectives in order to discover it.
Most people don’t hold the truth, rather they hold a perspective based on an emotional attachment, possibly handed down through generations.
In that case, what was truth can now be a lie, and that lie prevents people from being able to move forward.
How does truth become a lie?
When the truth of something is resolved and paths are corrected, but that person fails to let go and forgive the past. They’re now gripping onto the lie that that truth still exists today.
This would be a generational curse or handed-down behaviour.
I don’t say any of this suggesting that such a shift is easy, it’s not.
Because sometimes the perspectives we cling to are easier than admitting they’re actually a lie and no longer the truth.
And this is why the Bible says:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
1 Corinthians 13:4
Yes, I fail at that too.
